George Francis

Douglas Vale Historic Homestead & Vineyard dates back to 1859. Vigneron George Francis bought two parcels of land totalling 20ac.(8.1ha) on what was then the New England Road. The property was named after Francis' wife's family, who were Douglas' from Scotland.

After 140 years the history of the homestead and vineyard are being conserved, restored and interpreted. The public is now welcome to the site and the vineyard is again producing wines.
